Salt chlorinator repairs, cells & installs

If your salt pool keeps going cloudy or green, the chlorinator is often the culprit. We test it, clean it, fix it or replace it, and set it up for cool Highlands water.

Signs your chlorinator needs attention

  • Chlorine readings stay low even with the chlorinator running
  • A “check cell”, “low salt” or flow warning on the control box
  • White scale building up on the cell plates
  • The pool goes cloudy or green soon after a clean

What we do

We test your water and salt level first, because a chlorinator can only work with the right salt and balance. Then we inspect and clean the cell, check the control box and flow, and set the output and run times to suit your pool. If a cell has reached the end of its life, we can order in a replacement and install it, or supply and fit a complete new chlorinator.

Why Highlands salt pools behave differently

Many salt cells produce less chlorine in cold water, and some switch down or off when the water is cold. In a Highlands winter that can leave a pool under-sanitised for weeks without anyone noticing. We adjust settings through the year and, where needed, top up with other sanitiser over the coldest months.

We repair and install salt chlorinators across the Southern Highlands, including Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Berrima, Bundanoon, Robertson, Exeter, Burradoo, Sutton Forest, Hill Top, Colo Vale and Welby.

Mineral and MagnaPool pools

Mineral and magnesium systems, including MagnaPool, use a chlorinator cell too. See our mineral, MagnaPool & salt pool servicing page.

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace just the salt cell?

Often, yes. If the control box is working, we can order in a compatible replacement cell and install it. If the whole unit is failing, we’ll give you options for a new chlorinator.

Why does my chlorinator make less chlorine in winter?

Many salt cells produce less chlorine as water temperature drops, and some reduce output automatically in cold water. In the Highlands that’s worth checking every winter.
